The long awaited Oscar award is here and it is everything you expected and more, of course with Chris Rock as this year's host, I did not expect anything less. With the #Oscarsowhite controversy, and a league of black actors boycotting the awards this year due to a lack of minorities in the nominees for Oscars this year, it is no surprise that Chris would address the controversy in his opening monologue. He starts off by saying, "This is the wildest craziest Oscar to ever host because there are no black nominees". He also talked about how he was pressured and almost gave in to not hosting the Oscars. Although he tries to keep thing light, Chris definitely hit some issues, like the fact that this is the 88th Oscars and not one black actor or actress was nominated. He also pointed out that it had happened at least 71 other times but that black people did not complain because they had more things to worry about. He puts it, ' Black Americans did not care because we were being lynched and raped to care about who won best cinematographer".

He goes further to talk about the racism in Hollywood, and how minorities in Hollywood have been kept out and the need for representation. He goes, "Everyone want to know , Is Hollywood racist?, is it burning cross racist. No its a different kind of racist. "Hollywood is sorority racist, but thing are changing, we got a Black Rocky this year. Some people call it creed, I call it a Black Rocky"
